Why $395 DJs don’t belong in YOUR SCHOOL!

Homecoming and prom are becoming more and more elaborate affairs ever year. Extravagant venues, Hollywood-quality décor, and even 5-star food is what students will find at many of these dances. Unfortunately the person responsible for the nights entertainment, the DJ, sets up a tacky 2 speaker system and a small tree with a light show that was decent back in the mid-90s.

Ouch. What an eyesore.

It’s not the school’s fault– after all, DJs are all the same, right? Continue reading ‘Why $395 DJs don’t belong in YOUR SCHOOL!’

Students Support Brain Tumor Research

Now that’s a tongue twister. Don’t let the tongue twisting title of this organization fool you, it is no joke. They raised over a million dollars at their walk this past Saturday at Arizona State University, and had hundreds, if not thousands walking in the name of Brain Tumor Research.

According to their awesome website, www.SSBTR.org, “Within the next 12 months, over 200,000 people in the U.S.A. will be diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor.” and “Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor cancer deaths in children through high-school age.” Luckily, Steve Glassman, an advisor at Pinnacle High School, had the heart to start this amazing charity and begin raising millions of dollars in the name of brain tumor research.

Naturally, upon planning this year’s walk the question posed by the group was, “How are we going to energize these thousands of people walking around campus on a early Saturday afternoon?” and we answered with an energetic “We can do it!”. Continue reading ‘Students Support Brain Tumor Research’

ASU Undie Run 2009

530391083_vemua-m-5 How often do your hear the words underwear, and charity in the same sentence? In the case of the Arizona State University’s 2009 Undie Run, you’ll hear it quite a lot. In 2008, Rubin Green a bunch of his friends decided to hold an event on the day before finals declared the Undie Run. At this event, the students were asked to strip down to their undies, and run around campus. Pretty simple right? Until about 5,000 people showed up, and now what are you to do with 5,000 pieces of clothing? What other than to donate it all to charity. Continue reading ‘ASU Undie Run 2009′
